Why You Should Watch Arcane Season 1 Before Season 2 Comes Out
Season two of Arcane has finally been announced so now is the best time to watch season one if you have not already. If you are still on the fence about if you should watch Arcane or not, here are some reasons why you should give it a try!
Arcane is one of the most appreciated video game to TV adaptation to date. Taking the characters of popular MOBA League of Legends and expanding the lore into an animated series brought both fans and people who never played together to see what was going to unravel. At the time of season one’s release, Arcane was known as the best adaption yet, raising the hopes for more good adaptions (which we later got with the amazing The Last Of Us live action).
So, why was Arcane so good and why should you check it out before season two’s release?
Well, there is no good reason not to watch Arcane. The show is an amazing example of storytelling with deep emotion and character development. Why would you not want to watch a show like that?
With the show being tied to a game like League of Legends, someone who doesn’t know the game or lore might be overwhelmed thinking that they would watch the show and be completely lost. Something that I think should be pushed more when promoting this show is that you do not need to know a single thing about League of Legends before starting Arcane. The show is basically it’s own entity from the game except they happen to share the same characters. Everything that you know will be given to you, yes there are some Easter eggs for lore knowers, but I promise that missing them will not hinder your enjoyment of the show.
The story is deep. It tells the story of one region separated into two cities divided by wealth and access to necessities. This message can be read by anyone, it’s universal. Arcane also gives believable characters for all parts of this society. Even the side characters that only have minor influence on the story are fully fledged people with flaws and hopes.
The animation is some of the best I’ve seen. The facial expressions show an arrange of emotions better than any other show. The art style allows for the perfect atmosphere to be set in both the upper, more prosperous, city and the lower, struggling, city. The colors and details used show on the visual base how the two parts of the region live differently. Each person shows how the ways of life are shaped by how you are raised and what you have access to.
The character development arcs are top tier, with flushed out reasoning and a logical pipeline from point A to point B. There is a lot of subtext to be looked at, Arcane does not spoon feed the message, but instead gives a surface level message with support in the subtle details.
The final episode left off on a cliff hanger, so with the recent announcement of a November 2024 release for season 2, a lot eyes will be on the series once more.
Setting aside all of the connections the show has, it is an amazing show with developed characters and a rich story. Now is the best time to give Arcane a shot if you haven’t already. Check out one of the best animations in recent history with one of the best stories in years and get ready to watch season 2 with everyone and enjoy the content in the moment.
