Hunt ghost with friends in this perfect "scary" adventure

The Funniest “Horror” Game to Play this October | Phasmophobia Recommendation

We are well into October, and everyone is looking for some eerie games to check out. But, not everyone wants to be jump scared out of their chair, some just wanna have some fun in a spin-chilling atmosphere. So, grab up to three friends and jump into the role of paranormal investigator in Phasmophobia!

Phasmophobia is the game for you to check out if you want a goofy “horror” game where it looks a bit janky, but in a good way. Team up to investigate a number of houses and discover what type of ghost is haunting the grounds. Use your tools to test for freezing temperatures, see how high the EMF reader can go, or even try to communicate with the ghoul.

With all the tools available, you will either be able to collect evidence to log in your journal or protect yourself when the ghost appears. With each piece of evidence marked, your journal will automatically update the possibilities of what could be haunting the house. There’s also a section where you can look into the specifics of all the ghosts to help you narrow down your selection.

But, you don’t have all the time in the world. The ghosts will appear in two ways. There are Ghost Events and there are Hunts. Ghost Events are times when the ghost will appear, and make sounds, but not directly interact with or harm any of the players. This can lead to more discoveries. Did you lay out salt for the ghost to walk through? Bring out your UV light to see if you can find any handprints. Now, Hunts are where you should get worried. This is where the house will be locked down, the lights go out and all the doors shut (and the front door locks) and the ghost goes hunting for a victim! If you fall victim to the ghost, don’t worry, you can still somewhat be involved. You become a ghost yourself and can walk around observing your living team members as they try to discover clues and not die.

Now, this game is a bit goofy in the way you move. It’s not built like a smooth, realistic ‘modern’ game, but I think that helps make it more of a fun game to play with friends instead of a scary game. This does not mean the game won’t make a shiver run through your body. The Hunts are anxiety-inducing as you run for your life or pick a spot to hide and hope you don’t get found. If you get a response from the ghost with your tools, the voice might give you the hibby-jibbies. It’s not a true nightmare-worthy horror game, but it is certainly one to get you in that eerie space for Halloween!
