A Return to Older Times | Claritas Review

A new game with a classic feeling

A Return to Older Times | Claritas Review

If you are someone who misses the feeling of minimalistic RPG Dungeon Crawlers, fear not, the art of these games has not been lost entirely. Claritas brings back the classic feeling of bringing together a party and take on enemies to reach the boss. I was lucky enough to have the developer of this game reach out to me to give the game a try.

This game clearly has a lot of work put into it. Ten unique dungeons are in the game with many more to come later. With beautiful backgrounds and bosses specific for the displayed terrain, the cohesiveness is expertly executed.

There are 20 different hero classes to choose from, sort your four party members to best tackle your next stage. Each class has a lengthy description depicting their strengths and attack styles, so I suggest looking at the dungeon type you’re about to search before choosing your party members.

You will go into each dungeon blind, there will be a handful of chests to collect some useful items. Right now there are a massive amount of consumable items (110), so you will have an item for every situation, and the game is pretty generous in giving you needed items.

And how do you go about getting stronger? Not only do you get to level up your characters (you earn exp after each battle), but you can also upgrade weapons. A prime example is after defeating the first dungeon’s boss, you will receive a drop that can be crafted into a better weapon to take into the next dungeon.

I only had access to the beta test content, but the official website gives plenty of upcoming content to be excited about. The game already has adorable characters with over 100 abilities scattered amongst them. But, future updates will bring even more cute chibis and moves to test out. There will also be a quest system that will add who know how much more content.
